How the picks are made

  • Most answers are read from one Monte Carlo simulation of the whole event: Play-In, Swiss stage and Knockouts, with the official format, draw rules and Fearless draft. The Finals MVP role uses the smoothed 2015-2025 Finals MVP role frequencies, and rare-champion questions add a historical pick-rate prior; each question's method note says which.
  • Match winners come from Esports Oracle's live League of Legends prematch model; map scores follow from the same probabilities.
  • Each simulated game re-uses real 2026 games of the two teams (Oracle's Elixir), so picks, bans, game lengths and every player's stat line are taken from games that were actually played. Each simulated event also varies how representative each team's 2026 games are, by giving those games random weights for that event (a Bayesian bootstrap).
  • Options are ranked by expected Crystal Ball points: the chance of each finishing position times the points Riot awards for it.
  • Probabilities are model estimates, not guarantees. Esports Oracle is not affiliated with Riot Games.

Data sources

  • Oracle's Elixir — 2026 professional match data: per-game team and player stats, picks, bans and game length.
  • Esports Oracle LoL match model — Series win probabilities for every possible pairing at Bo1, Bo3 and Bo5.
  • Riot Games / lolesports — The Worlds 2026 format, schedule and the 18 Crystal Ball questions, plus Riot's published Crystal Ball results from 2023-2025, used to check how each stat is defined.
  • Worlds 2026 ruleset and patch notes — Swiss and Knockout rules, Fearless Draft, and the tournament patch.
  • Liquipedia and gol.gg — Historical Worlds records used in the reasoning lines (for example past Finals MVPs).

FAQ

What is the Worlds Crystal Ball?

Crystal Ball is Riot's season-long prediction game that runs alongside Pick'Ems at the League of Legends World Championship. You answer questions about the whole event — stat leaders, champions, records and team results — before picks lock, and each question pays points when the event ends.

How do you rank the options?

By expected Crystal Ball points. For each option we take the points each finishing position pays and multiply them by the probability that the option finishes there across our simulated tournaments, then add them up. Questions with a single correct answer use points times the probability of being correct. We show the top 5 options (every option when a question has fewer than 5). The bar under each option shows its expected points as a share of the top prize, so the bars always follow the ranking; options with equal expected points share a rank (shown as =1, =2 and so on). Ties in the stat itself share a place too, which is why the chances to finish 1st can add up to more than 100%.

Where do the probabilities come from?

Mostly from one Monte Carlo simulation of the whole event. Match winners come from our live League of Legends match model; player and champion stat lines come from each team's own 2026 games in Oracle's Elixir data, replayed game by game with Fearless Draft enforced inside a series. Most questions are read from those same simulated tournaments. Two lean on history: the Finals MVP role uses how often each role won Finals MVP from 2015 to 2025 (smoothed), and the Teemo question combines the simulated number of games with a historical pick rate. Each question's method note says exactly how it was answered.

How many questions can I see for free?

A free account can unlock any 10 of the 18 questions — your choice, and they stay unlocked for this event. Pro members (Weekly, Monthly or Yearly) see all 18. Visitors who are not signed in see the questions and the method, but no picks.

Are these picks guaranteed?

No. They are probabilities from a model and historical data, not certainties. Upsets, roster changes and a new patch can all move the real outcome. Use them as one input to your own picks.

Is Esports Oracle affiliated with Riot Games?
